  9.   1. The purpose of this program.
  10.  
  11.      SpamMotel gives you complete control of your e-mail address, without the use 
  12.      of filters.
  13.  
  14.      Whenever you are online and about to give out your e-mail address--STOP!
  15.      Do you really want to do this?  SpamMotel has a better way.
  16.  
  17.      Simply type a short reminder memo to yourself, including why and to whom the
  18.      e-mail address is being given. SpamMotel records this memo, and the date and
  19.      time, and quickly sends you a special "disposable" address to use instead of
  20.      your real one. The new address is automatically placed into the "clipboard" 
  21.      memory of Windows, where it can be pasted into any online form that you are 
  22.      filling out.

  24.      E-mails sent to this special address are forwarded to your regular e-mail 
  25.      account, along with your reminder memo, which appears at the top of the e-mail
  26.      message. From now on, you'll know exactly when and where the sender or spammer 
  27.      got your e-mail address.

  29.      But just knowing this information is not enough. So we give you the power to 
  30.      stop spam sent to any of these special addresses. This is done through the Log 
  31.      Page -- your online control and information page -- where you can delete any of 
  32.      the addresses you've given out. You can also suspend and resume forwarding for 
  33.      each address at any time.

  35.      Because you retain complete control of the address, there's no need to "opt out"
  36.      or "un-subscribe" to mailing lists. No need to set up complicated filters. No
  37.      more reading through lengthy and confusing privacy statements. Best of all, your
  38.      real e-mail address is never given out, just the special ones you create using
  39.      SpamMotel.

  41.      Ideal when signing onto chat rooms, subscribing to newsletters, making online 
  42.      purchases, or filling out any online forms that request an e-mail address. Also
  43.      useful in organizing your e-mail folders more effectively.

  45.      SpamMotel works with your existing e-mail account. Only the addresses you choose
  46.      to create with SpamMotel are sent through our servers. All other e-mails remain 
  47.      unchanged.

  50.   2. How to install the program.

  52.      No installation of SpamMotel is needed.
  53.  
  54.      The SpamMotel User Interface requires no installation, and no changes are made 
  55.      to your computer system. You can also access all features through the SpamMotel 
  56.      website, although we strongly recommend using the Interface for convenience.

  58.      The program is for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000.

  60.      Extracting the 2 zip files is all you need to do. The files are README.TXT and
  61.      SpamMotel.exe. Simply place the SpamMotel.exe file on your desktop. Clicking on
  62.      the SpamMotel icon opens the User Interface.

  65.      Move the file SpamMotel.exe to your " C " drive and place a shortcut to it onto
  66.      your desktop. The advantage to the shortcut is that it allows a 'shortcut key' 
  67.      combination to be used to open the interface, without having to minimize your web
  68.      browser. [Right-click on the desktop shortcut, select properties, and enter in a 
  69.      shortcut key combination such as: Control/Alt/9]

  71.      There is no need to un-install SpamMotel. Simply delete the file.

  98.   7. Getting started.

  100.      Click on the SpamMotel icon on your Windows desktop to open the User Interface, 
  101.      then click on Setup. You can sign-up for SpamMotel right from the Setup box, or 
  102.      use it to enter and store your login information if you have already signed up 
  103.      online. Either way, follow these next steps.
  104.  
  105.      Enter a name or phrase to label this account. This will appear in the drop-down 
  106.      box. Now enter in your e-mail address; this is the address we will forward your 
  107.      SpamMotel e-mails to. Next choose a password. This can be different from your 
  108.      regular e-mail account password. Use the check-box option to save this password, 
  109.      if desired. Then click on the "Create New Account" button. Repeat this process 
  110.      to enter in other SpamMotel accounts.

  113.   8. Using the program.
  114.  
  115.      Open the SpamMotel User Interface from your desktop and select an account name
  116.      from the drop-down box. Type a reminder note that will help you remember to whom
  117.      you are giving the e-mail address, and why. Now click on the "Create New Address"
  118.      button.

  120.      Your note is sent to our server where it is recorded in your Log Page. The time
  121.      and date are automatically logged as well. As soon as our server receives your
  122.      note (almost instantly) it sends you a special e-mail address.

  124.      This unique e-mail address is placed into the "clipboard" memory area of Windows, 
  125.      ready to be pasted into any e-mail field. You do not need to remember it or write 
  126.      it down. To paste, simply click on the e-mail field, right-click your mouse, and 
  127.      select paste; or from the edit menu of your web browser select paste.

  129.      SpamMotel creates a different e-mail address each time, and a complete record of
  130.      these addresses can be viewed from the Log Page.

  132.      By using the online Log Page, you can block any e-mail (or spam) sent through the
  133.      system. You can delete an address, suspend it, or resume it. Deleted addresses
  134.      are gone for good. You can also sort or search through reminder notes, as well as
  135.      edit them.

  137.      Now, give it a try. Create an address and from your e-mail account send a test 
  138.      e-mail to yourself or let someone else send it to you. Then click on the "View 
  139.      Log" button on the Interface and have a look at the results in your Log Page.
